Construction of the pile foundations for the China-aided Sports Center Project officially kicked off on May 15. Ambassador Lyu Jin, President of Nauru His Excellency David W.R. Adeang, some cabinet ministers of Nauru, and guests from Kiribati attended the commencement ceremony.
