Since the resumption of diplomatic relations between China and Nauru, overseas Chinese living in Nauru have reported to the Chinese Embassy that Nauru once issued a customs ban in 2016, prohibiting the direct import of white goods such as washing machines and air conditioners, as well as food, from China. This has brought a lot of inconvenience to the production and daily life of overseas Chinese in Nauru. The Chinese Embassy has attached great importance to the relevant demands of overseas Chinese. Through continuous negotiation and promotion, the Nauruan government issued amendments to the customs regulations on May 2, 2024, and February 20, 2025 respectively, canceling the above-mentioned import ban. At the same time, Nauru proposed that imported home appliances and food must be affixed with identifiable English labels to facilitate the normal border inspection by the customs and the purchase and use by consumers.

Please make this known to all overseas Chinese, and carry out import business in accordance with the relevant regulations.
