On January 27, 2026, Vice President Han Zheng met with President of the Senegalese National Assembly Malick Ndiaye in Beijing.

Han Zheng said that Senegal is an important cooperative partner for China in Africa. In recent years, President Xi Jinping has held meetings with President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko during their visits to China, leading the China-Senegal comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to continuously achieve new development. China highly appreciates Senegal's understanding and support on the Taiwan question and issues related to human rights and Xinjiang. China is ready to work with Senegal to consolidate political mutual trust, deepen cooperation for the benefit of the people, further synergize development strategies, promote mutual understanding and forge closer bonds between the two peoples, and maintain close communication and coordination on international and regional affairs, so as to make greater contributions to jointly building an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era.

Malick Ndiaye said that Senegal firmly adheres to the one-China principle. The Senegalese side highly appreciates the Belt and Road Initiative and the four global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping. Senegal is willing to strengthen practical cooperation with China in areas such as infrastructure and smart transport, and work together to advance the development of Africa-China relations.
