Xi Jinping Leaves Beijing for a State Visit to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea

On the morning of June 8, 2026, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and President Xi Jinping left Beijing by special plane for a state visit to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) at the invitation of General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) and President of the State Affairs of the DPRK Kim Jong Un.

Xi Jinping’s entourage includes Peng Liyuan, wife of General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and Chinese President Xi Jinping; Cai Qi, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee; and Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
