
On March 26, 2025, Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met in Beijing with Lionel Aingimea, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade of Nauru, who came to China to attend the opening ceremony of the Embassy of Nauru in China.
Minister Wang Yi noted that since the resumption of diplomatic ties between China and Nauru, the two countries have fostered mutual understanding and support, and practical cooperation has flourished across various sectors, bringing tangible benefits to the people of Nauru. China appreciates Nauru's firm commitment to the one-China principle and trusts that Nauru will continue to support China's efforts to safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity, further consolidating the political foundation of bilateral relations. China is ready to deepen cooperation with Nauru in areas such as agriculture and fisheries, sports, ocean development, climate change response, and capacity building, opening up an even brighter future for China-Nauru relations. Wang also extended congratulations on the imminent official opening of the Embassy of Nauru in China, assuring that China will facilitate and assist the Embassy's operations.

Minister Aingimea stated that Nauru-China relations are developing vigorously, and remarkable achievements have been made within just one year of resumed diplomatic ties. He expressed sincere gratitude to China for its valuable assistance in Nauru's infrastructure construction and economic and social development, which has significantly improved the well-being and sustainable development of Nauru's people. Nauru's adherence to the one-China principle is unwavering, and the country looks forward to expanding cooperation with China in various fields and continuously elevating the bilateral relationship to new heights.
